Lake Tekapo to GoldFields Jet (Day 5 Part_1)

After good night sleep we where ready to go to our next destination Nevis Bungee and Swing, but before we hit the road we took a look at worlds smallest church and got the chance to take a look out of it's window. Way is it so special?? Take a look at it your self...

Before we take off from Lake Tekapo we would like to share some more pictures that we got from there! It is amazing spot on earth and the views are stunning! See them your self...

Then we where heading towards Lake Pukaki and Twizel using road Nr. 8 witch is the only way there but there is one secret detour that we took and it was stunning view what we saw there. The detour starts just after you cross the bridge that goes over a canal. You can't miss the canal and bridge, but you can miss the turn to the road witch is just after the bridge if you are flying over with speed close to 100 km/h. So if you turn of on your right there (see a point on our map "Tekapo Canal"), you will drive along the canal and soon after salmon farm (where you can get fresh salmon by the way), there is this little parking spot on your right. You will see that the canal turns off to the right, it will get a little bit bigger and that is the spot. If you are starting to go downhill then it is too late... :D Any way there is this stunning place that you wont find in any tour guides, but in clear day you will see a mirror view of the mountains just like this...

If you walk till the end of canal you will probably see someone fishing there and you will definitely see Lake Pukaki.
After this short stop we went down the hill and back on road Nr. 8 with the lake on our right side. We stopped by the lake to take some pictures and see what came out... :)

Yeah we had some serious fun there! I guess it was because of energy that we got from Tekapo Springs previous evening and good night sleep! :) So after this little stop that you can see in our road trip map, we where going towards Queenstown and accidentally stopped by GoldFields Mining Centre. Somehow it attracted our attention and we had some free time before our Nevis Bungee Jump so we decided to take a look at this place.

Fast flowing river at sunny day in New Zealand
Kawaru River, GoldFields Mining Centre
Guess what??? We where walking across this narrow bridge across the Kawaru River and we see a speed boat shooting like a lightning gown the river and that is not jet the best part!! :D It was going side ways along the rocks so close that we thought: "It will crash in to big rocky river walls right in front of our eyes!!", but No, the pilot (I have to call him like that because he rides as one!) easily turned the boat to the another side, got some more speed and made a sun in the middle of this narrow river! :) That was awesome to see this! We went inside the centre and asked if they are shooting a movie down there, but they explained that it is a Gold Fields Jet and they do it every day. That was it! We had to try this!!

And we DID IT!! That was the most most crazy speed boat ride ever in our life!!! Too bat that in pictures you can't describe all those feelings and adrenalin that is shooting through your body, but if I have to describe it then imagine Formula 1 on water and you are riding in it!! If you like to get some adrenalin in your blood stream then this is a must do experience in New Zealand!!
The other big plus is that the pilot knows his boat, his river and the history of this area very well and he will share some amazing things with you. There is big mining history in this area and he was sharing some of the facts with us and there are stunning history about this river as well. As I told you before he knows his boat pretty good and one of the most interesting facts about the boat and it's engine is that it's maximum thrust is 400 liters per second!! Can you imagine this much power for the engine!! The maximum speed is quite impressive as well! It can go as fast as 90 km/h!! It is hard to imagine this kind of speed on the water in a boat! :)
Well this was amazing experience and there are some more things what you can do before or after your boat ride. As the name says it is a GoldFields Mining Centre and if you are interested in a history or gold then the tour at this centre would be just in time! We where going all around New Zealand and to be honest we didn't found a centre that would be open or that would offer a tour like this one, so if you are interested then this is a place where to do it.

We didn't had much time to take a tour because we had a booking for a bungee jump so we skipped it this time and we where back on the road to have some more fun and adventure! :)

We marked this place in our map in case you are wondering where it's located and here is the link to GoldFields Jet home page where you can book your ride of a life time: http://www.goldfieldsjet.co.nz/

This was first part of our day, but see the second one as well in next post! :)
